Clayton Rotary Club

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Clayton, North Carolina!

March is Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Month

Rotarians believe clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life.

·       Waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families when they have access to clean water and sanitation.

·       The Rotary Foundation changes the world by providing grants for projects and activities in your backyard and worldwide. It has also invested globally in water, sanitation, hygiene, and water resource management interventions.

·       The Clayton Rotary Club has participated in many water, sanitation, and hygiene projects, including two service projects where we helped to fund a water tank for a school in Jamaica and public bathrooms with flush toilets and sinks in Africa. Our Club also has members participating in our District’s annual trip to the Dominican Republic. On these trips, they have worked with the local Rotary Club to build latrines and provide hygiene items. The latrines were built from 2013 to 2019 until they were no longer needed. From 2020-2024, they started building single-family homes with indoor plumbing and continued to provide hygiene items to the residents.
